St. Petersburg State Academic Ballet Theater of Leonid Yakobson, commonly known as Yakobson Theatre was named after an outstanding choreographer of the 20th century Leonid Yakobson and became the first ballet theatre of Russia that exists separated from the opera company. Theatre was established in 1966 by famous ballet master Pyotr Gusev. The artistic director of the theatre today is Andrian Fadeyev.
Read more“Giselle” is a romantic ballet in two acts with a libretto by Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Théophile Gautier. Music is composed by Adolphe Adam and choreography is composed by Jean Coralli and Jules Perro. Yakobson Theatre’s „Giselle“ is based on Marius Petipa version of choreography.
“Giselle” was first performed in Paris in June 1841 and it has remained one of the most popular classic ballets.
